moonrise kingdom as a fantasy adventure !! this was for one of my finals where i redesigned suzy as a magic princess escaped from an oppressive kingdom and sam as an orphaned vagabond who traverse the land to find the legendary moonrise kingdom where they can live peacefully together ~
they’re a little bit older, but i still tried to maintain the innocence of the real movie!

So my next book, The Radically Awesome Adventures of the Animal Princess, is coming out April 9th (in exactly one week)!
It’s a spin-off of my first book, The Totally Awesome Epic Quest of the Brave Boy Knight, but this time it’s the Animal Princess’ turn to have some radically awesome adventures!
I’m super proud of this book and once again the amazing Amy did an amazing job coloring it.
So please tell your friends and order your copy today either on amazon.com or wherever fine books are sold!
I was up late one evening last week just surfing the internet when I received a message from a follower suggesting I watch PJ, Tiny Planet Explorer by PJ Liguori. As pictured, I clearly enjoyed it and found inspiration in the two minutes and ten seconds it lasted. It had me wonder what ten items I’d pack if I moved to another planet and I thought the ten things he packed said a lot about his character. So, here I am after creating a mock film poster for this short film that has even won an award.
I was curious and looked through and watched like 3-5 of his other videos (I know one was Office Space and another was Lullaby Box) and his creativity is quite contagious. I was in a bit of a slump last week just exhausted from my various jobs and I’m happy I was able to find the energy to make this. He’s quite a story teller and I think he’s one of those creatives everyone would love to collaborate with (I certainly would at least in terms of comics or other). It also opened my eyes to the fact that YouTube is entirely a separate culture that I had zero knowledge of until now.
Ink with digital media.
DISCLAIMER: I have zero connection to PJ Liguori and he did not partake in the creation of this mock film poster. This is purely inspired.
Mitzi, an American girl attending international school in Tokyo, discovers the mysterious Lost Property Office while searching for her friend Maki’s homework in the sprawling Tokyo subway system. Mitzi gets her own chance to become a Finder like Mr. Motomeru and his nephew Yuki, and she soon learns that there’s more to Finding than traveling through space-time! My illustrations for The Lost Property Office, a two-part young adult short story by Marji Napper in the March and April issues of Cricket magazine. It was a lot of fun to research (Tokyo subway tunnels! Japanese houses! Tokyo Station in the 1930’s!) and I’m pleased with the results. I worked on both chunks of illustrations at different times, but I tried to keep the feel and colors relatively tied-together. (I also got to contribute to my long-term goal of inserting cats into illustrations whenever possible)
